Developing Mathematical Fluency through Purposeful and Targeted Practice

Teaching mathematics to struggling students requires skillful planning and deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Additionally, students with disabilities who struggle to learn important  mathematics concepts and skills require more intensive instructional supports. The purpose of this session is to introduce and develop specific research-based strategies and instructional practices to promote more effective learning in the areas of computational fluency. At the completion of this interactive session, participants will have increased their repertoire of instructional strategies and techniques for helping students of all skill levels achieve improved learning outcomes.

Grades k-8; general and special education teachers; math supervisors, and building
