Developing Social Emotional Competencies in the Early Childhood Setting – Dr. Jenny Morgan
Participants will learn about the development of social-emotional and executive functioning skills from birth to pre-school years and the influence these skills have on adaptive and learning behaviors. Participants will gain an understanding of barriers that influence the development of social-emotional competencies. Participants will be able to identify a variety of adverse childhood experiences that change the child’s body chemistry and relate directly to their physical and mental health. Classroom staff and related service providers will be able to learn how to apply practical classroom strategies that facilitate the development of social-emotional competencies and emotional regulation and identify methods that foster collaboration with parents/caregivers to support carryover in the home setting.
