Aligning and Integration Mental Health and PBIS Building an Interconnected Systems Framework
October 29, 2019
Aligning and Integration Mental Health and PBIS Building an Interconnected Systems Framework presented by Kelly Perales, LCSWPBIS/Mental Health Integration Midwest PBIS Network
The Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF) is a structure and process to integrate Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and School Mental Health within school systems. The goal is to blend resources, training, systems, data, and practices in order to improve outcomes for all children and youth. There is an emphasis on prevention, early identification, and intervention of the social, emotional, and behavior needs of students. Family and community partner involvement is critical to this framework.
During this session you will learn about:
- The history, context, and need for an interconnected system.
- How to align initiatives, such as mental health, social emotional competencies, trauma-informed practices, and other related initiatives.
- How to get started at the district and building level, including use of an action planning template, tools, resources, training curriculum and a workbook.
Learn about exemplars in Pennsylvania who have been doing this work for over three years. Plan to leave with specific tools to use in your district.
Please contact Kelly Zurybida at kzurybida@tiu11.org with questions.
Why:
- Would you like to have improved communication and collaboration with community providers who come to your school and work with students?
- Would you like to enhance your tier two continuum of interventions to address the social, emotional, mental, and behavioral health needs of your students?
- Do you worry there are students in your schools with unmet mental health needs? Especially those who do not have acting out problem behavior?
