Title of Activity: Equity with Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning (featuring STEM)

Time(s): 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM, ½ hour break for lunch; 3 hours TBD during Event Week; 5 hours coaching sessions with students during Event Week

Instructor(s): Peney E. Wright, M.Ed.  TIU 11 STEM/STEAM Curriculum and Instruction Specialist 

Description of Activity:  STEM teaching and learning methods and strategies provided in our workshop session followed by TIU 11 staff virtual guided and modeled engineering challenges and science investigations for educators and students. Planning and reflective educator sessions with TIU 11 staff during the event week. At least one hour each day designated for student STEM learning, discovery, making, the iterative process, and presenting, as well as, teacher coaching.   
    Following this workshop and at least one guided class session, educators will have access to additional engineering challenges and science investigations for students to try out any time during the school year. 
    Literacy connections will be provided to integrate with reading and writing. Students will use the Seesaw Online Portfolio App. 
    Educators may sign up for up to 3 weeks of projects throughout the school year, first come first serve basis.  Maximum 3 classrooms per week.  Designated weeks of the month to be predetermined.
