This training is located in the Sill Business Incubator at Juniata College. Also known as JCEL Building, it is located on the corner of Moore Street and Fourteenth Street in Huntingdon, on the south end of Juniata College campus. There is a parking lot behind the building, however, parking is extremely limited, so please allow extra time for your commute as you may need to find street parking and walk a few blocks.

Please enter the building on the Fourteenth Street side, across from Sheetz. TIU11 is clearly marked on this door. Once inside, go upstairs immediately and our training room is on the second floor at the top of the stairs. You will sign in once you arrive in the training room.

IU is hosting Ashley Harned, M. Ed., BCBA, Educational Consultant from PaTTAN.

Title: Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans

When a student’s behavior is interfering with his/her learning or the learning of others, a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is used to identify problem behaviors and develop interventions to improve or eliminate those behaviors. The procedural steps in conducting a FBA require focused teaming, precise behavioral tracking, and targeted interventions to best support the student in all intended educational settings. Intervention fidelity and progress monitoring are additional key factors that effectively link the socially appropriate replacement behaviors to a supporting student level Positive Behavior Support Plan. Attendees in this session will learn how to conduct a Functional Behavioral Assessment and the requisite behavioral decision-making process to successfully connect interventions to a technically adequate Positive Behavior Support Plan. Explicit areas of focus will include the process of making data informed decisions and fidelity based progress monitoring at both the targeted and tertiary levels of student support.

Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans

TIU11 is proud to have our PaTTAN colleague, Ashley Harned, M.Ed., BCBA, LBS, join us for a special training on how to effectively create and manage a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), and Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP). Upon completion of this seminar, you will understand how and when to conduct an FBA, in addition to developing and implementing a PBSP with fidelity. If you have not had the privilege of hearing Ashley present before, now is your chance. She brings an expert level of teaching experience to her presentations and you will leave this session with a solid understanding of these important pieces of special education.

Lunch will be on your own. You are welcome to pack a lunch or eat in town. There is a Sheetz within walking distance to the training room. Parking can be found behind the JCEL building on campus. Please look for burgundy colored TIU Training signs to help you navigate.

This is open to all special education staff who work with students who currently have, or may need, behavior plans.
