Morning Presentation: Current Drug Trends
Do you know what waxing, boofing, and robotripping are? If you saw writing on the bathroom stall asking for Molly would you know what they wanted? If you were a student looking for drugs where you would get them? Why do students even turn to drugs and/or alcohol? (The answer is not that obvious). What are the signs a student is using? Which students want which drug? Can you spot the hidden drug messaging students are wearing? (It’s right in front of our faces.) Find out the answers to these questions and more.
11:45-12:45 Lunch (included)
12:45-2:15 Matthew Null - Presenting on prevention and information for schools.
Afternoon Presentation: Best Practices in Prevention
We all remember the frying pan with the egg but did that change our feelings on drugs? The current drug epidemic has motivated many individuals, schools, and organizations to provide prevention programs, but do they work? Do you know why some prevention methods work and why others don’t? How does the developing brain play a role in prevention? You’ll be challenged to turn off your adult brain and think as if you have an underdeveloped frontal lobe. You’ll learn the three paths of addiction and how they are critical in understanding prevention. The information provided will help you plan effective prevention efforts at home, school and in the community.
