Connect. Collaborate. Put STEELS into Practice.
An interactive professional learning series where educators explore phenomena-based teaching, deepen their understanding of the Science and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts, and exchange strategies for mathematics, computational thinking, data literacy, productive academic discourse and STEELS aligned assessments among other topics.
Designed for: Synchronous, hybrid, and asynchronous participation.
Light lift: For each session, read a short STEM Practice Brief before we meet. On a recording document jot down 2-3 takeaways, then describe how you might make these shifts in your classroom. Complete your reflection document on/before the day before we meet.
Your colleagues said:
“I learned better questioning techniques that encourage deeper thought processes than just a right or wrong answer, the need to remember equity in my lessons, and the ability to have a better understanding of how the new science standards will enable my students to explore and study phenomena in a different way.”
“I learned more about the 3D approach and the planning framework that was shared. I was also able to dive in deeper with the progressions of the SEPs and CCCs from K-12. I found the articles and videos to be helpful in building my own capacity to support staff in my district and organize cross district collaborations. I also appreciate viewing various assessment samples that assess these new standards.”
