The Battelle Developmental Inventory, Third Edition (BDI-3) – Administration, Scoring, and Interpretation

This workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to the Battelle Developmental Inventory, Third Edition (BDI-3)and its use in assessing the developmental skills of young children. Participants will begin with an overview of the BDI-3, including its history, development, purpose, and organization. The session will explore the structure of the assessment and the developmental domains and subdomains measured.
Participants will learn general administration procedures, including considerations for selecting appropriate starting points, establishing basals and ceilings, using multiple methods of data collection, and accurately recording responses. The workshop will also address BDI-3 scoring procedures and provide guidance for understanding and interpreting the scores generated by the assessment.
The session will conclude with an overview of BDI-3 reporting options and how assessment results can be used to communicate a child’s developmental strengths and areas of need and support educational planning and decision-making.
